Half-Life 2: Episode 1 is the sequel to the first Half-Life 2 game. Valve decided to make the newest games into a trilogy of Episodes. This is the first one. All the episodes use the Source engine, which is one of the best for first person shooters. Since the release of the game, the engine has been updated several times, and those changes reflect on the games that use the engine. The story of this game continues from the events of Half-Life. Gordon was left unconscious outside the base of the Combine, an alien race that invaded Earth. He is then picked up by Alyx, and they head to their base to continue fighting against the aliens. This game is one of the first to feature a character in the game whose sole purpose is to assist you cooperatively. You need to work with her in every bit of the game to complete your missions. And this proves both hard and satisfying to do. The graphics are awesome. The fights with the aliens are really gruesome, which is also great. The great thing about this game is that you know that it is part of a trilogy, so you will play it to see what happens after. I am patiently waiting for Episode Three to come out.
